Minister: Germany to work on Ukraine gas transit prolongation

BERLIN, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- Germany will work toprolong a contract for Russian gas transit across Ukraine, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Wednesday.

"We have tried to make the contract on gas transit between Ukraine and Russia happen at all. The Federal Chancellor sent a clear signal to the Russian President that this is a condition for the Nord Stream 2 project be fulfilled under the plan," Maas said.

"We will negotiate to prolong the transit contract."
